Re-education and
Re-socialization
The Master

The process of
training for a Master always involves leadership and accepting
responsibility. If you have the power to make decisions for your slave,
then you are responsible for those decisions. A Master can’t
delegate his responsibility for leadership and the responsibility of his actions.
It is often said
that when a Master/slave relationship fails or a slave is poorly trained,
the first place to look is at the Master and his personal conduct.
A slave does not control training, a Master does. Granted,
this is an oversimplification, of why some Master/slave relationships
don’t work, but it is often true.
A Master’s
Central Goals in Training
The four central
goals discussed below are not independent of each other. Interaction
always occurs between them.
The Master’s training is structured
around four central objectives:
1)
Establishing a proper Master/slave relationship
This
involves establishing trust, basic submissive behavioral skills and
obedience. The Master will become her authority figure, teacher, guide,
source of evaluation and counselor. It also includes exploring the
dynamics of the slave. In short, it establishes the Dominant/submissive
relationship and provides the ground work for future training.
This is the first and maybe most
important step in training. It's where the submissive nature of the slave
becomes directed at obeying and serves her Master.
There is no one skill that is necessary
to build the proper Master/slave relationship. You must be transparent in
your plans for training and long-term goals, be consistent in training,
take charge, and probably many more skills that I can’t think of right
now.
So, what does a Master need to do?
First, he needs a clear philosophy of what a Master is, what a slave is,
how he wishes her trained and how he will do it. After that, he needs
to develop clear rules, protocols, and slave positions for his slave to
follow and training procedures. Believe me, it is much easer if you
do.
Discipline and punishment are issues he
should have already thought about before starting any training of a slave.
2)
Exploring and assessing the slave
Because Slave training can involve
intense emotional experiences, it is necessary that a Master have good
basic knowledge of what events occurred in the slave's past and her present
behavior. He should know any area that might cause emotional trauma for
the slave.
Transparency or openness is necessary.
It is a learned skill and can be developed by the slave. It is also
important that a Master be open about his on views and past with his
slave.
A Master examines the slave’s core
beliefs, past experiences, goals, motivations, values and personal
history. Direct questioning, written questionnaires and
testing can be used to aid the Master's understanding of his slave.
The Master is looking to uncover the slave's strengths, weaknesses,
assets, and beliefs that will be used in training as well as those that
will interfere with slavery.
It is Important that a slave fill out a
good BDSM questionnaire and a list of basic questions about her past and
early training. However, this is only a place to start exploring your
slave.
It should be noted that this is a
process that may take a long time. It may be like pealing an onion.
Layer after layer is removed revealing more of her as training continues.
This is powerful information. Remember,
knowledge is power. You become armed and dangerous with the knowledge you
have gained about your slaves emotions. A Master must use good
judgment and use this information wisely. The purpose of obtaining
the information is to build a stronger Master/slave relationship not
destroy it.
Looking at it from the other side,
it can be a powerful tool in your favor. If you properly use the
information provided by the slave, it builds her trust in your abilities
to train
her. She becomes even more willing to disclose emotionally charged
information to you.
3)
Developing the slave’s insight and purpose
In
general, it can be said that a slave’s purpose is to serve her Master. A
Master should clearly detail his goals to the slave and be willing to take
the time to show her what behavior is expected of her.
Every behavior in human life has a
purpose. The goals the Master has for her training are revealed.
The slave’s goals, beliefs, and behaviors are explored and interpretations
are made of them. When these become known they provide insight into
the motivations that operate the slave’s life and provide a means of
adjusting them to match her Master’s needs. Goal matching and development
continues throughout training.
In this phase, many things happen.
Conscious thought processes can change, resistance can be challenged, and
the underlying reasons for feelings and behavior are examined. In some
cases, unconscious processes are examined using hypnosis.
The development of goals by the Master
and the continuing disclosure of the goals to his slave are done for the
following reasons:
1)
Changing core beliefs (private
logic)
Obviously, she is a submissive and wishes to have a Dominant in her life,
but she may have false expectation based upon no prior experience or she may have bad
experiences in former BDSM relationships. Establishing realistic and
obtainable goals is necessary and, in addition, a realistic
understanding of slavery is necessary. Transparency is necessary in
examining beliefs.
Because the slave already has a
submissive nature, in the relationship between her and her Master most
changes in core beliefs deal with increasing acceptance of slavery and
changing her behavior. This is accomplished by challenging beliefs
(REBT) and education.
Having the slave research areas and
prepare essays is a useful tool in examining her thinking.
Communication with other slaves is another way to further her development.
Having a slave act as a slave, even
though her thoughts have not caught up with her behavior, is also a
powerful tool. This is the “as if” concept of training.
2)
Confronting resistance so the
Master and slave goals can be aligned
Resistance
to some changes is to be expected. Internal resistance is an
attempt by the slave to retreat from her Master’s efforts to explore and
alter behavior or beliefs. It is anxiety associated with a change in life
status or attitude. The faster the slave is exposed to change the more
the resistance increases.
External resistance can be
caused by anxiety about being dependent or close to another person.
Generally the total acceptance of a
Master as the governing authority in the relationship involves elements of
both internal and external resistance. In the Master/slave relationship
the slave does not have a choice of behavior and understanding the theory
of Cognitive dissonance is helpful. Cognitive dissonance says
that "when a slave's attitude conflicts with other personal beliefs
or the behavior her Master requires, it causes a mental discomfort
(conflict and/or resistance). This motivates her to change
either her attitude or behavior to reduce dissonance."
A Master controls the slave's behavior
therefore her only option is to change her attitude in order to reduce the
mental conflict. She is "helpless" to change her behavior
because it is determined by her Master. She has given her Master the
"legitimate power" to control her behavior therefore her only option is
changing her attitude.
This is why discipline training is
important in slave training. A Master works to control a slave's
body by controlling her space, time, physical actions, privacy and
relationships with others. Through training he is ever
increasing his control of her behavior therefore causing her to change her
attitude to accept his authority. A Master works hard to instill a
feeling of helplessness to change behavior.
.(see Resistance and Reactance) and
(REBT)
3)
Exploring the purpose of
feelings, behavior or difficulties that interfere with or block slave
development.
Interpretations
of the slave’s direction in life, goals
and purposes, core beliefs and current behavior are part of this step.
Often exploring the reason behind current behavior and attitude is the
most effective method of change.
The major overall insight is that the
slave learns she no longer has a separate freewill from her Master's wishes
and has no right of refusal to him. The slave’s purpose is to serve her
Master and she is judged on how well she serves. It may be told to her
many times turning training, but the actual process of experiencing it is
more important.
All behavior has a purpose. If a
slave is acting in a way that is not what her Master wishes, there is a
reason behind the current behavior. Again, transparency is
necessary in exploring the slave’s feelings that cause bad behavior.
4)
Re-education and
reorientation of the slave
Re-education
is learning and practicing new norms, rules and expectations for the slave
to meet the desires of her Master.
A
Master’s goals for the education process are to:
1) foster a slave’s re-socialization
-- Provide her with the knowledge of what is expected of her. In other
words, she is taught how to serve obey and please him. She learns what
behaviors and attitudes her Master likes and what makes him happy. Just knowing how to behave is not
enough. The new behavior must become part of her natural actions.
2) overcome
a slave’s negative feelings in order for her to feel “at home” in her
slavery -- This involves more
than just behavioral training. Emotions, self-image and thoughts are
considered. This may mean showing her that her resistance to change will
not be accepted or it may mean simply reassuring her that she is pleasing
you by obeying. As often stated, transparency or openness is necessary
and a slave must realize that her thoughts and feeling can’t be hidden
from her Master.
3) modify
a slave’s views and goals and change faulty motivations. --
Goal alignment is important to the
process. If the slave has a different expectation of slavery or a
different goal than a Master, then training will be very confusing and may
fail. It is helpful to look at the source of motivation for a
particular goal you have established in training. (see Goals and
Motivation)
4) develop a sense of being owned in the
slave -- A feeling of “being
owned” is necessary in slave training. After all, a slave is owned by
her Master. It is her power source and makes her whole and happy.
However, it is not always as easy to develop as one might think. There
are many factors involved. Trust is the major issue. She has to, over
time, develop a sense of trust for her Master in order to “let go”.
5) develop
her skills into a better contributing slave to her Master --
This of course this is not only learning
new behavior, but also including the new behavior in her daily life. It
also involves practice, practice, practice. A slave has no choice in how
she behaves, because the way she behaves is owned by her Master and
therefore she is
helpless to change it. Learning this behavior, takes time. In addition a slave’s attitude is
critical to a long-term relationship.
The re-education and
reorientation phase puts insight into action. In reorientation and
re-education the key elements are:
1)
Encouragement
2)
Change or modification of goals to
align with her Master’s
3)
Changing behaviors, attitudes,
values and perceptions
4)
Motivation modification (holistic
changes) (body, mind and spirit); motivation is the key to accomplishing
goals and the slave will be expected to use her motivations to meet her
Master’s goals.
